Ontario Home Builders’ Association appoints Luca Bucci as CEO

A government veteran perfectly suited to tackle housing shortages and other obstacles that hamper the province’s ability to house its growing population

North York, Ontario, June 07, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) is proud to announce Mr. Luca Bucci as its new Executive Director.

Mr. Bucci, who was selected following an extensive seven-month search, previously served as chief of staff to the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, a position he held from January 2021 to March 2022. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. the Vice President of Chartered Accounts Ontario, where he developed, maintained and engaged in working relationships with elected and unelected government officials to support the regulation of the accountancy profession in the public interest. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Transportation and the Ontario Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry.

This wealth of experience and interaction with government, particularly his recent exposure to the homebuilding industry, made Mr. Bucci the ideal candidate, said OHBA President Bob Schickedanz.

“It is truly difficult to underestimate how thorough and intensive the search has been to identify our next CEO. It’s a process that began last October with the hiring of Boyden Canada: Executive Search and Consulting Firm, and which included dozens of deserving candidates,” notes Schickedanz. “But the resume and passion that Luca brought to the table was truly special. He has an exceptional network at Queen’s Park and on Parliament Hill and has demonstrated the ability to multi-task in high-pressure situations. with great attention to detail.I don’t think I’ve met anyone more passionate about the homebuilding industry and the challenges that Ontarians currently face when it comes to housing affordability and supply. This is especially important given the need to build at least 1 million new homes over the next 10 years if we are to meet the province’s projected population growth.

“The home building industry has always been something that really interested me,” says Bucci. “This is a unique opportunity to become the next in a long line of excellent service to the homebuilding industry at a very important time. Currently, all levels of government are discussing housing supply issues and their relationship to housing prices. Our members will be a key part of the solution. I really want to play a role in this, while strengthening the base of OHBA and addressing the concerns of our members.
