Born in Tibet in 1930, the Venerable Khenchen Trinley Paljor
Rinpoche is one of the chief lineage holders of the Karma
Kagyu School. Khenchen Rinpoche began monastic training at
five years old and commenced a succession of three-year retreats
at age 18. He became a Drupon (retreat master) during his
third retreat.
Throughout his spiritual training, Khenchen Rinpoche received
many important teachings from the16th Gyalwa Karmapa, the
Nyingma master Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and from many high
Sakya lamas. In 1972, the 16th Karmapa appointed Khenchen
Rinpoche the personal tutor of the 4th Trungram Gyaltrul
Rinpoche and they have worked together closely ever since.
In 1999, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje conferred the
title, 'Khenchen' (Great Khenpo) Rinpoche upon him and appointed
him senior abbot of monastic ordination for the Kagyupa
School.
